Graham Cochrane chased his dreams of becoming a full-time musician and ended up with a lucrative passive income stream. Read on to know more about his journey and how he reached his goals.
As an aspiring musician growing up, Graham had made it a goal for himself to work in the music industry full-time. He was working a 9 to 5 job as an audio engineer as he simultaneously grew his freelance business. As a freelance music producer, he worked for indie artists but soon after he turned 26, he lost his job. This is when he decided to turn the adversity into an opportunity and took his music production business full-time.
Initially, Graham had to struggle a lot to make ends meet. Both him and his wife worked as freelancers to bring in anywhere from $500 to $1000 each a month. They also utilized their savings and food stamps to cover costs. And this is when he realized the amount of financial pressure they were in. He knew he had to do something to change that.
So later in the year, Graham initiated a music blog called The Recording Revolution. He was desperate to earn more money and had a plan to build an online presence to land potential clients for his music production business.
With trial and error, he slowly built his blog into a profitable business. And now he is earning more from his online businesses than he ever did through his job as a music producer.
His blog, the Recording Revolution alone is generating $40,000 a month. He also initiated a coaching business which brings him an additional $120,000 a month, where he teaches his students the step-by-step guide to building a profitable blog as he did.
At the age of 38, Graham is doing incredibly well. He works five hours a week, dedicating his time to his two businesses. He has ample quality time to spend with his family and he is doing what he loves: writing, teaching, and producing music.
How he turned his passion into a lucrative business opportunity is inspirational. When he began the Recording Revolution blog, he also built a YouTube channel alongside which he shared what he knew about music recording. This was another way aimed to attract potential clients. Gradually, his YouTube channel picked up and he monetized it. He also reached out to brands with press kits, offering them exposure and awareness. He further spread his online business by working on digital products like courses and built some great communities where he teaches people to build online businesses using their passions.
